SSCC #2

Hello~ Friends

Lorie our host this week, chose this scripture: “The scripture challenge is from Song of Solomon 6:3 and it says "I am my Lover's and my Lover is mine; he browses among the lilies." We are to make a card for our special someone and MUST give it to them. My hubby of 30 years is not a mushy, gushy guy but, he has opened so very many doors for me in our life together. He is the social butterfly and I (well you could say reserved). LOL because not anymore. Hee Hee---he encourages, praises, and understands me totally. Love him for that!!! Well the tables have turned with his health 8 years ago and he is challenged with Meniere’s disease (autoimmune). He has lost 80 % of his hearing and the dizziness is constant. I have to tell you that when I gave him this card on Sunday evening he was surprised and truly appreciated the saying inside. awhhh I felt good. So THANK YOU Lorie because I should take time to acknowledge my hubby more often.

I just received this new SU Nouveau Chic designer paper and it seemed to be perfect for a masculine card. The card base is SU kraft paper and then I cuttlebugged the designer paper with swirls and used the corner border for hinges :) The doorknob is a grommet with the punched out piece of diamond cuttlebugged paper glued on top with a black rhinestone (I thought it to be a clever idea :o) I used scrap metal letters to personalize it and Of course I had to add a few butterflies!!! I think it turned out COOL!!!!!!!!!!

The finished inside phrase I found off another card as I was browsing one day--don't remember where but, when I find something that touches my heart I write it down to use in the future. After hubby was diagnosed, each year the symptoms have been progressing and we have spent many hours driving to and sitting in doctors offices. bummer but it is not cancer :)

HE LIKED THE CARD, I LOVED THE CARD AND HOPE YOU DO TO!!!!

Mother Teresa Inspiration

Hello~
MMSC #16

I enjoyed thinking about this challenge before even starting my card. I new I wanted to use the ODBD stamps but not sure how. I chose the Mother Teresa sayings and really liked the end product. As you will notice on all my cards there are butterflies. I LOVE butterflies of all sorts. My base card is from DCWV gray textured and then I used Heidi Grace design paper to give it a fallish setting. With that the leaf shapeabilities came to mind and everything else just flowed together. Prima flowers and fern leaves were highlighted with stickles as well as accents on baby butterflies :-) The Ruban ribbon compliments all the colors used.

The finished inside of my card:

Lighthouse

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge
MMSC #15

I usually love to do cards with alot more bling and detail but, I am donating cards to my church's Fall Festival Silent Auction and I thought I would do more of a variety than my usual. God has created us all with different tastes :-) The Image I used is from ODBD--Light of the World set---reminds me of our trips to Door County, Wisconsin. That is where my husband's mother grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan. Love that area!!! I did use red and yellow stickles on the windows and tower light but that doesn't show very well on the photos. This card gives me a very peaceful feeling.

Here is a close up of the lighthouse:

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #1

SSCC – Challenge #1

Our host for this first challenge is Lisa Hjulberg and the scripture she chose is from the book of John:
Then Jesus declared,
"I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35 (NIV)

Create a card that has some sort of food or drink theme. It does not have to be a religious card, although please feel free to do so.

I love the Whiff of Joy stamps that my daughter, Kim shares with me. I decided to color Willow sipping hot chocolate, coffee, or chai (love all three, I will let you decide) with my copics and SU markers. Using my cuttlebug and daisy patch spellbinder edgeabilities I embossed the designer paper and sanded it to bring out the daisy design. I added ribbon, lace, prima flowers, rain dots, rhinestones and a special friendship heart charm.
Willow and her pillow (nice rhyme, hee hee) are both popped up on the card.

A close up of Willow with her Hot Chocolate:
The inside is finished using curved rectangular nesties. Daisy border die cut highlighted with smooch pearlized ink.
Recipe:
Stamps: Willow with Hot Chocolate by Whiff of Joy
Inks: Momento Tuxedo Black, Copics, SU Markers, Smooch
Papers: DCWV, SU
Tools
: Spellbinders nesties and edgeabilities, Fiskars border punch, and corner punch
Embellishments: Flowers, ribbon, lace, gems, and charm from my stash.
